new recipes

we have been trying out some new recipes and so far they have all been keepers! the hubs started off with some cilantro lime chicken fajitas. delicious!

next up was a belated fathers day meal (since i worked on fathers day). started out with frozen yogurt covered blueberries. i tried two different yogurts...regular strawberry and then vanilla greek style yogurt. the hubs liked the greek version better. and it seemed to freeze better as well.

and then the main course. store bought sweet potato fries and broccoli with cheese sauce. and my first attempt at shrimp. i dont like shrimp but the hubs said it was really good. all thats needed was lemons, dry italian seasoning and some butter. easy peasy.

life these days

life these days. its been pretty interesting. 33 weeks has come and gone. little ivan or dot is keeping his/her eyes open when awake, weighed about 4 1/2 pound & was about 17 inches long. and i found out that im so hot lately because during pregnancy your metabolism increases by 20%. whoa. gotta love the work uniform.

and this week is week 34. baby is able to recognize & react to simple songs, is the size of a butternut squash and is about 18 inches long. these days baby has also been hanging out on the right side a lot. so odd. does that mean he or she is gonna be right handed????

and then theres the feeling of "we arent gonna get everything done" feeling. even though i know we will get the essentials done, i still feel overwhelmed. less than 6 weeks until someone is supposed to arrive. which means less than 6 weeks until i have to deal with this:

do i need to say more? lol. all kidding aside, we ARE getting ready. slowly but surely we are getting ready. we have been making progress on the nursery & other baby projects which is great. we are still trying to narrow down names and middle names.

and this weekend little ivan or dot will be celebrated once again at our second baby shower...we cant wait!

more wisconsin fun

after the baby shower on saturday we got to hang out and relax some more with some friends and family. the hubs friend eric brought over the game kubb. (according to wikipedia its a swedish game, kind of a combo of horseshoes and bowling)

and heres a little play by play. not sure if he was bored or posing for the camera...either way he put on a great show.

and while the guys were playing kubb, we got to relax with miles and emma.

sunday was filled with more family time. a bunch of family and friends surprised kelly with a little retirement party --- and she was definitely surprised!

just like usual, we had an awesome time seeing everyone in wisconsin. but just like usual, time seemed to fly by too quickly. we are already looking forward to our next trip over there...but that time there will be three of us...(so odd!!!)

baby shower

this past weekend we made our last trip to wisconsin...just the two of us...which was pretty odd to think of and realize but we still had a blast. the trip up was a bit longer than usual, mainly because this girl had to make her hubs stop every hour - hour & half for a little bathroom/stretch break :)

on saturday, we had our first baby shower with all of the hubs family. we definitely felt a lot of love and we know this little one will also be celebrated & loved by everyone there.

while us girls were playing games, opening gifts and having fun...the guys had other plans...a little something called a sheephead tourney. and come to think of it...i dont even know who won. but i know they were all in there playing for quite some time :)

theres still some arguing going on over in wisconsin though. arguing over whether this little one will be IVAN or DOT. Boy vs Girl. It is a lot of fun to hear everyone's opinion and how sure they each are over whether its a girl or a boy.

we are so thankful for everyone who was able to come celebrate with us. and our little one is definitely blessed with all the amazing and cute gifts he or she got. thank you to everyone!

hormonal ramblings...

the hubs says i now waddle. its funny, half the time i dont even realize it. i wonder how it looks. and half the time i dont realize im in a "typical pregnancy stance/position"
my sis in law pointed that out a few weeks ago.

i went for a walk OUTSIDE BY MYSELF (i know, whats the world coming to right?) which was fine. except for the hecklers. two couples sitting in their lawn drinking. one of the women yelled out "walk a little faster & the baby will come faster"

ok. FIRST of all, if i walked ANY faster id pass out because id be getting no oxygen because id be short of breath. (ok a little over exaggeration but still) SECOND of all, DO I LOOK 9 MONTHS pregnant? i dont really think so. therefore, ill walk at this pace, cuz ideally id like this baby to stay cooking for another two months. but thanks for your advice. and i also appreciated the laughter after.

if you havent figured out yet, im a tad bit more irritable these days. and i CAN (& do) blame the hormones. babycenter.com told me it was a symptom. so a word of warning: stay away from me when driving. cuz most likely you will irritate me. and if you are a nursing friend, co-worker or my hubs, beware, cuz ill most likely be complaining about my lack of patience for my patients who dont listen to the doctors orders or something like that.

and in other news a patient told me i was "carrying well" i wont go on to mention that he was elderly and asked me about 5 times when my baby was due. im still taking it as a compliment.

and this baby. man, i think we are in a run for our money. turns out this baby is pretty smart. it seems whenever i want someone (my parents for example) to see or feel it move it doesnt. and then that night in bed, baby proceeds to have a dance party for a good twenty minutes. seriously? seriously. or when i try video tape the big movements, seems baby knows when i have the camera ready cuz then it just stops. like grinds to halt stops.

ok. but seriously. i am still enjoying this growing a baby thing. i am. i still love all of babys twists, turns, kicks, jabs whatevers. and its becoming more and more real that WE'RE GONNA HAVE A BABY SOON! like when picking out fabric with my mom for a baby blanket. thats gonna be MY baby's blanket. odd. or when realizing its gonna be a long time before i can read a whole book in one sitting. just little things like that. as much as i want the end of july to come asap, im still looking forward to these next two months. promise.
