lets get ready for some diy...

This house is move-in ready/livable but (how do I say this nicely?) …let’s just say our decorating taste/style isn’t the same as the previous owners. So we will be attempting to DIY on a lot of these improvements/updates. I have been searching the internet for weeks now (ok, ok, ill be honest...months) gathering ideas and the how-to so we have plenty of ideas.  Im not gonna lie, im really excited to do this! And the hubs, well I think hes just excited to finally get his “man cave” and a little garage workshop and do some outdoor improvements too. Hopefully ill be able to pull him away every now and then to help out too ;)
I suppose you want to see some pictures eh? ***

(upstairs bathroom, hearts & every shade of blue imaginable)

Thats probably enough spoilers huh? Actually, those are the best pictures I have right now. I'll try get more before we move everything in.
One of our first projects will be the master bedroom. Something about the mauve/red/who-really-knows-what-color carpet, floral wallpaper, pink walls and hunter green curtains doesn’t really scream “RELAXING!” or “SLEEP HERE” to us.

Hope you stay with us as we start to tackle these projects, we will be sure to keep you up to date on all of our progress, accomplishments and (hopefully not too many) fails!
***Writers side note---sorry if these pictures aren’t the best, i’m still in the (never ending) process of convincing the hubs to let us get a new camera...but that’s another story for a different day…

a mexican moving beard...

say what you ask? yes, i said a mexican moving beard. the hubs decided to "get creative" and "show his artistic abilities" on our vacation to mexico a few weeks back. aka, he got lazy. well, i figured when we got back home he'd shave. but nope, this is what i got:
so then...someone decided that he was gonna keep this mexican beard until after we moved. let me just say i am TRYING to stay positive...but thats not going so well. i guess its just another reason im ready for this weekend to come. and heres some pictures of the hubs tonight...
heres to hoping he doesnt change his mind. and make this a mexican-moving-summer beard.

*after proofing this entry, he said... "hmmmm a summer beard..." (crap)

our little secret...

Ok, so it’s not THAT little of a secret. More like a 2200 square foot secret. Or a 4 bedroom 2 bath type of secret. Maybe a picture would help clear things up?
Please don’t disown us for this secret. This actually wasn’t the first house we put an offer on. With that first house we had an inspection and didn’t  like what that showed. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster going from “we want this house” to “crap, no we don’t” to “will we ever find anything”   but, we are both very happy that that first house didn’t work out and that we got this one!
So where are we? We are in the process of making everything official. We are doing a “pre-sign” tomorrow. And then everything becomes official and we get our hands on the keys on Thursday. And then we will move this weekend. Oh yeah, its also my weekend to work. Throw in my sister-in-laws baby shower out of state. And you probably think we are crazy. Maybe we are. But that’s ok. We are crazy in love & crazy excited so that’s ok, right? Right.

So heres to you not disowning us for keeping this secret and to the beginning of one of the craziest but exciting life-changing weeks in a long time (well actually maybe 7 months give or take a few weeks…)
And heres a peek into our current living situation...nice and "cozy"...

mexican family vacay...

our march madness started out not so mad but with a week long vacation in mexico. the hubs and i were able to go with my parents & siblings to an all inclusive resort. we all had a lot of fun and made some great memories. if we weren't laying out by the beach enjoying the sea breeze we were most likely eating. most of us enjoyed relaxing and reading on the beach but others of us (ie mainly the hubs) wanted to experience as much as possible so he took part in a scuba lesson, yoga, a bike ride into town, a catamaran lesson, swimming in the ocean, a run on the beach and a few other things.

we were all able to go on some excursions as well. the first was about an hour or so away from our resort. here we were paired up with a couple from wisconsin and a couple from iowa (small world eh?) first we went rappelling. this was by far one of the scariest experiences of my life, if not the scariest. it took a bunch of encouragement for me to be able to actually get over the edge, the hubs & my brother had no problems with this though, they went down & ran back up the stairs to do it again pretty much before i went down once.

after rappelling we went ziplining. we did this on our honeymoon too, but it was still a lot of fun.

lastly we went snorkeling in a cenote (aka cave) the water was very cold but it was definitely awesome to see!
the resort had speciality themed restaurants to try out too each evening. we first tried the japanese hibachi where the hubs & i tried octopus. ick! i still get shivers just thinking about eating that!

we also tried a tropical theme & mexican theme on other nights. i dont think we ran into a dish that we didnt like!

we were also able to go snorkeling one day. i think this was my favorite (well, besides laying on the beach reading of course!) being able to see the coral and all the fish was incredible! ill admit it was a bit hard at times to not get salt water in my snorkel but i think towards the end i was doing pretty good.

each night the resort had a different themed show which was fun to go watch. before the show started each night they had an icebreaker type thing for volunteers. lets just say the hubs volunteered us one for some "mexican ping pong" and i never want to do that again (the story is better in person and probably not internet appropriate). that experience is definitely in my top 5 most embarrassing moments...i may or may not have been pretty silent towards the hubs for a day after that one :)

all in all, we loved the vacation. it was definitely a lot of fun and much needed. we all came back relaxed & refreshed. we werent necessarily so excited to go back to work...but then again who really is?!?!

so i guess our march started out pretty good. but these last few weeks are definitely going to be a bit "mad". with working nights for 2 weeks to some other adventures...we will be busy but having a lot of fun at the same time. guess you'll just have to stay tuned...

march reading

i have officially completed march’s resolution. i read a book on a beach. (ok, so turns out i read more than one book. but really who’s surprised by that? most likely no one) the hubs and i were able to vacation in mexico for a week with my siblings and parents. you could usually find me like this:

down by the beach under little huts reading books on one of the best things ever…my nook. and what goes with a girl on beach reading a nook? a pina colada or miami vice :) ok, ok..so it did get a bit chilly...sitting in shade (cuz i dont tan, i fry) with the breeze from the beach & a cold drink...dont judge that expensive iberostar towel :)
so looks like im 3 for 3. not that im keeping track or anything...
