pinterest meal

so march's resolution was to make a meal from pinterest pins ive been collecting. appetizer, main course & dessert. well that sorta happened. :)

so of course i procrastinate on this as much as possible. why wouldnt i? and then to top it off i had a cold the day i decided to do this. great.

originally i was going to make beer can chicken cuz i thought we had a small whole chicken in the freezer. well turns out we had half a chicken and didnt have any beer cans, even though that wouldnt have worked anyways. so i scoured the internet and made a mish-mosh dry rub (i dont even really remember what spices i put in) heres before cooking:

and then i was going to make this delicious looking pull apart cheesy herb bread for an appetizer. http://www.roxanashomebaking.com/pull-apart-cheesy-herb-bread/

yah well that didnt turn out. and i dont really know why. but heres the meal (minus the delicious & super easy green bean casserole we also had)

so that was supper. minus the dessert. cuz really i had nothing left in me to make a dessert. however, the night before i DID make a cinnamon roll cake for the hubs to bring to work. so that counts right? right. and i had even pinned it previously. so that helps out.

so theres march's resolution. with a twist or two. but hey, thats life. right? (at least thats what i keep telling myself)

but in other news, aprils resolution will NOT be at the last minute. so thats exciting. heres to hoping im feeling better by this weekend...

halfway!

im a little late in posting this (busy weekend) but the end last week marked the halfway point. 20 weeks. wahoo! the hubs and i are slowly working our way through the alphabet trying to come up with names. (let us know if you have any suggestions!)

so 20 weeks. half way. its odd. it seems like it has flown by. im still enjoying feeling the baby kick, and hopefully soon the hubs will be able to feel it too.

ive been attempting to make a collage of pictures to show you side by side for the last half hour or so. and got nothing. so you are stuck with this:

nursery

so ive been surfin the internet (a lot) searching for nursery ideas. and right now our nursery is primed. and looks really odd being all white. but its definitely better than the maroon and hunter green it was when we moved in.

this whole not knowing if the baby is a boy or girl makes it a bit difficult to find neutral ideas & items (dont even get me started on the lack of neutral clothing) but we have decided (or more like i have decided and the hubs hasnt said no...) that we are gonna go with blue and green and then if its a girl we can add in some pink pieces. so thats that. ive really wanted to make a mobile for above the crib and came across a few ideas & decided to combine em.

so i bought some scrapbook paper to make some pinwheels. easy peasy. cut a square. fold to make an x, cut on the x lines to almost the center. punch holes. bend in and attach with a brad. it seriously was pretty easy.

i had already bought a mobile thing aka a photo mobile from target but anyways. after i had made all the pinwheels and attached them to the mobile i realized this was not gonna work. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too busy. i kinda get overwhelmed looking at it from the bottom, so i would assume baby would too.

so heres to trying to make this work. maybe ill detach parts of the mobile to use less pinwheels? or maybe hang the pinwheels like a banner in the room by the changing table. or come up with something completely different. who knows. all the supplies and mobile thing were about $15 so it didnt really break the bank.

so nursery attempt 1: prime & paint = in progress
nursery attempt 2: semi-fail but can (hopefully) be saved.

entry way

thanks to some painting from my mom, we finished our entry way table thingy. and our entry way in general. the hubs used his carpentry skills to build this based off a plan online.

and heres the view from our stairs. sorry for the mess on the right. its full of shoes, the entry way bench we made a while back and the coat hanger. we arent exactly 100% sure what we will store in the table thingy but im sure we will come across something to put in there. besides hats, gloves and mittens. oh yah, right to the right of the door are two recycling bins from ikea the we use to store shoes. seriously i dont know how we have so many shoes but we have a lot.

ultrasound baby!

this week is week 19. so close to being half way there. (crazy) and since im lucky* enough to get to work every day next week, we had the ultrasound a week early. (no complaints from me)

heading into the ultrasound i was surprised at how ok i was with knowing we wouldnt find out the sex. i thought i would really really really really want to know and maybe even cave or twist the hubs' arm to find out. i guess i was just more focused on how needing a full bladder for the ultrasound was no fun.

but anyways, i cant even begin to describe how amazing and cool and real and so many other things it was to see our baby. to see the baby ACTUALLY look like a baby. the last time we saw the baby was like around 12 weeks and it just looked like a kidney bean. but this time it was a human. (no more parasite or alien comments are allowed)

we were able to see this little one move around (a bunch) and see the heart, all four chambers, the bladder, the kidneys, the umbilical cord & the flow of blood. sooo incredibly crazy. but so incredibly cool.

however we have already learned that this little one is stubborn! he or she did not want to fully cooperate. believe me...we tried poking, prodding, me in different positions and this little stinker (said in the best, most loving way of course) did not want to move his/her arms down from their face or move their head up to get some measurements. we literally only need to check babys lip (checking for cleft lip) and he/she wouldnt have it. so, looks like im scheduled for another ultrasound before my next appointment. oh shucks! (jk, clearly im excited to see him/her again!)

and guess what. im finally feeling the baby move. since march 1st to be exact. this too is so crazy but so exciting. seriously i dont know how else to describe it. it kinda feels like a tap on the shoulder would, just a bit gentler/softer. and im liking every little kick/jab/movement/whatever. from what ive heard its not always that soft especially when baby gets bigger...but ill keep it for now.

"new" cook book

so its a bit late, but february's resolution is complete. i blame it on the fact february had only 29 days. or the fact that i completely spaced and remembered on february 26th. whoops. guess thats what happens when you are having so much working, eating, sleeping, watching tv and surfin the internet for project ideas.

nothing too exciting here folks. a new cover, new binder and new tabs. woot woot. but the best part is that all the recipes now follow the same format. the same font. the same size. ie everything looks the same. we also added recipes that we had in a recipe box that we would always forget about so hopefully we will even be trying some new things in the next few weeks. and thats that. februarys resolution completed in march.

now to get searching for new recipes for marchs resolution...

boy or girl?

Its getting close to the highly anticipated ultrasound. You know, the one we could figure out if it’s a boy or girl. And man has it been difficult these past few weeks to keep convincing myself to wait until July to find out the gender. But have no fear…I have researched some old wives tales or myths on what this little one will be. So here goes, in no particular order:

Cravings --- salty/sour = boy; sweet =girl ………. Ugh. I really don’t know! This one needs to be thrown out, I feel like it just depends on the day!

Chinese Gender Chart (based on my age & month of conception) …..GIRL

Mayans Myth (based on my age & year of conception) ….GIRL

Increase in acne = girl; Same = boy…..BOY

Morning sickness = girl; little to none = boy ……BOY

Side you rest on: Right = girl; Left = boy……GIRL

History of parents kids (this was a long explanation)………BOY

Dad-to- be gains weight = girl; doesn’t gain weight = boy ….. BOY

Heartbeat: 140+ bpm = girl; under 140 bpm = boy…. TBD at the ultrasound

Wedding Ring on string: swings in circle =girl; back & forth = boy… BOY

Pee in a cup mix a tablespoon of Drano in, and watch to see if it changes color. Green = girl, and blue = boy. Umm no thank you----I don’t need to know THAT bad!

So to tally everything up thats 5 BOYS and 3 GIRLS

So heres to this little one being a boy, at least according to these myths/wives tales. am i missing any???
