best hubs award...

turns out im pregnant. surprising, i know. and this entire time the hubs has been awesome. helping out more around the house when i was completely exhausted during the first trimester, always listening to me when i complain about heartburn or whatever it is that day and so much more.

he even listens and helps my cravings. case in point this past weekend.

have you ever heard of birthday cake oreos? ya, turns out oreo is turning 100. and they have a new limited edition birthday cake flavor. they are delish. and it wasnt very helpful when my friends christa and toni were talking about them recently, via text messages and facebook (thanks girls)

anyways...friday i texted the hubs saying he should go buy some birthday cake oreos. like 5 packages (they are limited edition you know). and then i told him baby wanted em. (cuz why wouldnt i milk that for 9 months???) so after work he told me he did get birthday cake oreos, but also got mint & peanut butter for variety. (slightly mad, i requested ALL birthday cake, but understood his thinking...sorta)

so saturday i wanted those oreos. and i went to start snacking on some birthday cake goodness. only to find out the 2 packages of "birthday cake" oreos were regular. turns out since they had balloons or streamers or something on em he thought they were birthday cake. ok, so of course i still ate the regular ones.

then i got smart and realized we dont need to eat 4 bags of oreos, none of which are the ones i want. so i asked the hubs, what kind should i bring to work? regular or mint? well he wanted to keep the mint. so i go to the pantry to get the other package of oreos...and see the "mint" ones. turns out they werent mint either. they just had a green part of the package...saying "reduced fat"

so the hubs was 0 for 4. and thats why he gets the best hubs award. and i use the word best loosely :)

*disclaimer: the hubs knows about and approves of this post. i just find this story hilarious and had to share with someone!!!

new stained glass

well in that last post about the trees, we still had our nativity stained glass hanging up. whoops. a bit late but oh well. i finally convinced the hubs to hang the new one. and it looks pretty good. even  if its been pretty cloudy recently.

p.s. thanks again dad! we love it!

goodbye trees

even though its the middle of "winter" the hubs is well on his way to figuring out all the landscaping he wants to do this spring/summer/fall. theres been mention of bushes, rain gardens and some other things. but when chopping down some trees was mentioned, i was a bit surprised. but thats his territory, not mine. so last week we had two trees taken down. heres some sneak attack pictures of the 8 hour process. you know sneak attack so they wouldnt see me in the house in my pjs of course.

the tree above is in our side yard, looking out from the soon to be babys room. even a week later its crazy to drive up to our house and see so much of the house. i didnt really think that tree blocked/covered a lot of the house but it did. now it will be interesting to see how the hubs hides these stumps.

and heres the one from the front yard.

16 weeks.

16 weeks. well, actually the end of 16 weeks. crazy. lets see...what can i tell you?

this week: we had a doctors appointment...spent more time waiting for the doc than the actual appointment itself...but oh well. heartbeat still sounds good. (i dont know if i would ever get tired of listening to that) ive been constantly tellin the hubs "its so weird. theres a baby in there" and i mean constantly. its still surreal. very very surreal.

ive been experiencing some heartburn. and my body seems to want to test my gag reflex every other day...have no fear...it works :) i bought my first pair of maternity pants. surprisingly comfy! other than that not too much new...the hubs and i are off to a wedding reception this weekend and my parents & sister are coming up to FINALLY get rid of the christmas themed nursery walls! :)

sewing 101

well ive been trying my hand at sewing recently. and what better sorts of projects then baby items?! thanks to pinterest and a co-worker ive got a few ideas on baby shower gifts and just things i want to do for our little one.

so since my friend lauras baby was due beginning of february i thought id try my hand at two projects. one being a velcro diaper & wipes band. im sure theres a better name for it somewhere but oh well. simply put you wrap this around those so you dont have to haul your huge diaper bag into a changing room. or should i say your hubs doesnt have to haul a huge diaper bag? i dunno. seems like it would come in handy, especially for short errands or something.

and the second project was burp cloths. just to make em a bit more cute than plain white. cuz who wants that?!!?

thankfully these were pretty simple projects just 4 straight lines. they arent 100% perfect but im ok with that. practice make perfect right?! right.

now onto making more of these for my own collection and attempting to make other things. like bibs, crib sheets etc. we will see how far i get with those and if i need any help from my mom when it comes to sewing non straight edges or adding things like elastic.

entry way bench

well after much delay (due to convincing the hubs to paint so i cant, finding fabric and finding the energy to actually complete the project) the entry way bench is done.

simple project. have hubs build bench. have hubs paint since you cant paint. pick out fabric and batting or foam. flip bench over and staple like crazy. flip back over. try convince hubs its not a laptop table for the living room. done.

now to pick out a paint color for the console table too. and convince the hubs to prime and paint that. who knows, maybe after all this painting the hubs has to do he will actually enjoy or not mind painting. haha. probably not but a girl can hope right?

date night

date night last friday night. finally! :) now dont get me wrong, im not trying to blame the hubs in taking a 14 week hiatus from dates---im equally if not more to blame. well the exhaustion is to blame but still. we had a lot of fun. and it was even the hubs' ideal date = cheap!

we started out ice skating. which was free. cant beat that. now let me just say the last time i went ice skating was like one time in college and before that was who knows when. aka a long time. the first few minutes were kinda sketchy trying to get my balance/get used to being on ice skates. but it was a lot of fun.

thankfully i didnt fall! and neither did the hubs. even though i thought that would be hilarious. cuz im nice like that. after ice skating i was going to surprise the hubs with supper at a place that was on diners drive ins and dives. for a really good jucy lucy. however, the wait at that place and their sister restaurant was an hour to an hour and a half wait. um no. this girl and this baby cannot wait that long just to get seated. so we ended up at a little sports place near our house. it was alright. nothing to write home about.

so all in all it was a fun night to get out of the house and have some fun. hopefully we can try that jucy lucy place sometime during the week when the wait wont be so long.

random thoughts

im not liking spaghetti these days. i can sorta tolerate the first time but then cant even begin to tolerate it for leftovers. so please, no spaghetti until after august. thanks.
yesterday i had a great day at work. or shall i say drive to work? for a few weeks now ive driven past this odd billboard full of shamrocks. didnt think anything of it. just thought it was a BIT early for st pattys day but hey. BUT THEN YESTERDAY the billboard had changed. and it had the greatest news. SHAMROCK SHAKES ARE BACK!!! i was so excited. and then got a bit nervous...what if the baby didnt like shamrock shakes? but have no fear, ive already tried one and baby approves! whew!

im also enjoying jolly rancher chews. a bit of a kick of sour. and pickles. but not together.

the hubs and i are going on a date tonight! im excited. its been approximately 14 weeks since we have been on date. not that ive been counting or anything.

im so thankful for energy. im finally getting energy back! so much so ive been cleaning and working on some projects. i know you are pumped huh?

im also procrastinating on researching what to do for the nursery. it still seems pretty odd and surreal.

and thats about all the random thoughts for now. now that ive told the world i have more energy im suddenly pretty tired. hmm. oh well.
